Launch of the Digital Portfolio project, a mobile application on the new digital identity model, at university level
The pilot project Digital Portfolio is launched with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the General Secretariat of Digital Administration with the National Mint and Real Mint Factory Casa de la Moneda, the Carlos III University of Madrid, the University of Murcia and the Rovira I Virgili University.
With the functionality of storing and managing verifiable credentials, the pilot project is limited to the university level in a first phase, with the aim of obtaining feedback on the actual use of Digital Portfolio and associated identity credentials, in order to assess its future implementation in a generalized way. The experience will serve to develop a new dig identification modelital that can be stored in Digital Wallet along with other credentials. The participants of the Universities will be able to access various services through the available web portals.
The new digital identity models aim to develop systems and services that allow citizens and companies to be digitally accredited in a 100% telematic way using technologies such as biometrics, image, etc., in a secure way. It also aims to develop new identification and signature systems that are simple, safe and usable by citizens, in line with the applicable regulations in this field.
Some of the first functionalities of this new application are: the management of training content by research teaching staff and administration and services staff; access through authentication to scientific journals and publications to research teaching staff, master’s and doctoral students and library staff; or access to the register to manage their presentiality at the University through the identification system. These services will be expanded, as well as their access to the student community. The security of the credentials and the control by the user are accredited by the National Currency Factory and Real Money House, as a Qualified Provider of Trusted Digital Services.
Digital Portfolio is a project of the General Secretariat of Digital Administration, State Secretariat of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, included in the Plan for the Digitalization of Public Administrationsunder component 11 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan: Modernization of Public Administrations, which includes the development of specific actions that will be carried out within the field of digital administration.
La SGAD, as responsible for the provision of information and communication technology services to public entities and bodies, will make the mobile application available for download in the main app stores, Google Play Store for Android systems or App Store in the case of iOS.
