The Government approves the territorial distribution of 28 million euros of European funds for the development of a National Health Data Area
The Council of Ministers has approved the territorial distribution of 28 million euros between the Autonomous Communities, the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla and the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA), aimed at the creation of a National Space of Health Data or “Data Lake Sanitary” that collects information from the different autonomous information systems, allowing its massive analysis for the identification and improvement of diagnoses and treatments.
Distribution criteria
To carry out the distribution of credit, a fixed amount and another variable depending on the population volume have been taken into account, to ensure that all maintain a sufficient level of technological and organizational resources to make the data available for the development of the National Health Data Space.
Taking into account these objective allocation criteria, the following territorial distribution has been approved for 2023:
To ensure adequate monitoring of the projects, the Autonomous Communities and Ceuta and Melilla must provide information on the different investment activities that they intend to finance from the funds in the integrated management system, as well as information on the forecasts for the fulfillment of the strategic objectives of the Recovery Plan.
The Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence is responsible for the project for the constitution of the National Health Data Space, which acts through the General Secretariat for Digital Administration. This project is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and all autonomous communities and cities.
