First workshop of the Spanish Gais-X hub on the Tourism Data Space
The first workshop of the working group of the Tourism Data Space of the Spanish hub of Gaia X, organized in FITUR by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in the Segittur space, has taken place today with the aim of advancing the creation of the tourism data space.
The workshop was opened by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas, and the Chief Data Officer of the Government of Spain, Alberto Palomo, and the President of Segittur, Enrique Martínez Marín, among others.
In his speech, Artigas stressed that "Spain is committed to a real data economy. The creation of a data space in a strategic sector such as tourism strengthens the Spanish leadership in this field."
The objective of this first collaborative workshop, which focused on the use of tourism data – one of the key sectors for Spain – is to support in the definition of a vision for the tourism data space. During the workshop The challenges and opportunities around data from the tourism sector, sharing technologies and architectures and tractor use cases for the sector have been analysed.
The day has passed with debates on topics of great relevance such as data governance -led by Miguel Angel González San Román of the company MINSAIT and Moisés Rubiño, Head of Department of Digital Marketing and BigData in Andalusian Tourism - or the technical needs of the sector in which Juan Jesús García, AMADEUS and Jesús Herrero, TECNALIA have intervened.
There has also been an opportunity to look to the future with a space dedicated to Missions in tourism, addressing future use cases and insightful questions such as what could be data missions in the tourism sector? Or what opportunities do we have as a country?.
To end the session, a meeting has taken place Brainstorming On the future of the working group accompanied by conclusions that have put the final finishing touch to the event.
Spain is the only Member State of EU which has developed a vision for the tourism data space. Therefore, this workshop strengthens the Spanish leadership as a reference for this data space at European level.
