Creation of the Interministerial Working Group for the Digital Transformation of the Economy

At the Council of Ministers on February 16, it was agreed to create the Interministerial Working Group for the Digital Transformation of the Economy, which will be composed of nine ministries and the Economic Office of the President of the Government, and will be chaired by the Secretary of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda (SESIAD), D. José María Lassalle.

The Ministries that will make up this group are the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, the Ministry of Finance and Public Function, the Ministry of Presidency and Territorial Administrations, the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment, the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and the Ministry of Development.

The main objective of the Interministerial Group will be the elaboration of the Plan to promote the digital transformation of the economy, which will include measures aimed at improving through the incorporation of digital technologies, competitiveness and economic growth in Spain.

In addition to the elaboration of the Plan, this Group will seek to efficiently coordinate the existing actions in the field of digitalization that are being developed between different ministerial departments. Therefore, the Plan will include a definition of the actions to be developed, the instruments to be applied and the schedule to be followed by each department.

Likewise, the measures of the Plan to promote the digital transformation of the economy will be incorporated into the Digital Strategy for an Intelligent Spain, which is currently prepared by the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda together with SESIAD. At the same time, these measures must be consistent with the strategies, as well as with the sectoral plans, of the departments that make up the Interministerial Working Group.
