The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, today stressed that digital transformation represents a “great opportunity to reindustrialize Spain and Europe”, starting from the need for Europe to gain strategic autonomy and technological sovereignty, reducing its dependence on the outside.
This was the statement made at the opening of the 32nd edition of the ASLAN Congress, organized by the National Association of Technology Industry, which brings together 198 manufacturers and suppliers specializing in digital innovation and cybersecurity. The congress represents the great event in Spain of the digital sector and, over the next three days, the participation of more than 7,500 professionals and the presentation of more than 500 digital solutions in cybersecurity, data management with Artificial Intelligence and for the digital workplace, among others, is expected.
Óscar López has advanced next investments promoted by the Government in the field of cybersecurity. “It is time for cybersecurity,” he said, remembering that Spain is one of the countries that suffers the most cyberattacks. “Companies that invest in cybersecurity are going to have aid and support from this government,” he said.
The minister took advantage of his speech to present to the congressmen the capacity of the Spanish Society of Technological Transformation (SETT), a fund of funds endowed with 16 billion euros and which is already promoting investments in strategic sectors for our country, as is the case of the project for the construction in Malaga of a leading center of the company IMEC for research and manufacture of semiconductors or the investments in the Spanish companies Wooptix, which manufactures equipment for the metrology of semiconductors, keys in the manufacture of chips; Sensia, which develops solutions based on infrared technology or Multiverse Computing, which has developed an artificial energy saving tool.
“Our country used to be late for industrial revolutions, but the government today is taking advantage of European recovery funds for the dual green and digital transition. Today everyone knows that Spain has clean and cheap energy and the best connectivity in the world, with 100% of homes with broadband access, 95% through fiber optics and the rest through satellite,” he said. “There are resources, there is a clear roadmap, there are capacities, people trained, and a great business and entrepreneurial fabric” so that Spain this time does put itself at the head of the technological revolution, he concluded.
