The Minister for Territorial Policy and Civil Service, Miquel Iceta, has chaired the first General Council of MUFACE in 2021 with the Secretary-General for Civil Service, Javier Rueda and the Director of Mutual Society, Myriam Pallarés. He stressed the role of the Mutuality during the pandemic, “with offices always open to manage and ensure adequate health care and better assistance to mutualists”.

The Minister stressed the principles behind MUFACE, among them the vocation of public service, quality of management, interinstitutional collaboration and relevance of people, “values that are faithful reflection of what the management of quality public services at the disposal of citizens implies”.

The meeting of the General Council highlighted the effort made by the entity to update the data of one and a half million mutualists and beneficiaries, then forwarding them to the regional health authorities, so that the collective can be contacted when appropriate to be vaccinated.

The role of MUFACE in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan was also highlighted, in which component 11 included projects of the MUFACE Strategic Plan, which, according to the minister, “will allow the modernization of service applications to citizens, the updating of technological infrastructures and the establishment of new digital procedures in the field of administrative mutualism that will allow for faster, faster and more effective management”.

The Minister of Territorial Policy and Civil Service has also highlighted, as future challenges of MUFACE, the Mutuality Advance Plan 2021-2023, the processing of the next Health Care Concert, advances in the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 and improvements in management.

MUFACE’s director-general, Myriam Pallarés, stressed that work is already under way in the new Concert, assessing the innovations and spending needs to determine the budget increase for the start of its processing in May. In addition, the improvement of the concert with the inclusion of new technologies in the assistance of the mutualists is studied.

In addition, data have been provided for the first regular period of change of entity at the beginning of this year. There have been 15,299 modifications, compared with 27,638 registered in 2020, i.e. 44.6% less, representing the stability of the model.

Other issues addressed by the Council have been the developments in the regular management of the Mutuality Society, the new instruction on multiple delivery, the call for study grants, the improvement of some socio-sanitary benefits and aids in 2021 and the review of pharmacy expenses.
