On 2 February, the fifth debate on the selective process, on opposition and the selective course, was held.
In this day, the intervening people were asked if the type of tests used in the selective processes are the most suitable and if the process, due to its duration and uncertainty, constitutes an attractive challenge or a problem for recruitment in the Public Administration.
The debate was moderated by Héctor Casado, Assistant Director-General for Industrial Relations of the General Directorate of the Civil Service and counted on this occasion with the interventions of:
- Jordi Solé, president of FEDECA, who, faced with the new challenges in the selection, proposes to maintain the current systems, such as memory exercises, although adapting them to the new needs and reflected on the incorporation of evaluation of other competences necessary for public managers.
- Carlos Martínez, President of the National Sector of CSIF, reflected on the current selective systems and proposed reduced memorabilia and the implementation of practical tests adapted to the work to be performed; the establishment of tests and psychometric tests and periods to improve the experience.
- Alfredo Pérez of the UGT Federation of Public Services focused on the cost of preparing an opposition and stressed the need for scholarships to ensure their opportunities for people who want to oppose.
- Francisco Javier Martínez, representative of Workers' Commissions, presented his main proposals on the selective process, such as overcoming the memory exercise to assess skills and competences and stressed the need for the administration to direct its efforts towards a much more attractive public administration.
