At its meeting on 24 May, the Council of Ministers adopted a Energy Efficiency and Savings Plan for the General Government of the State and public sector entities.
This is a plan promoted by the Ministries of Finance and Civil Service and for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, which has as its main objectives to rationalize the use of buildings and administrative facilities and to establish ways of organizing the work of public employees that result in energy savings, while ensuring the full provision of services and attention to citizens.
The plan for energy-saving measures is one of the commitments contained in the National Plan to Respond to the Economic and Social Consequences of the War in Ukraine, adopted by the Council of Ministers on 29 March.
With this plan, the General State Administration assumes a leadership and exemplary role and faces the challenge of promoting actions that lead to savings and efficiency in this area in the state public sector in the current circumstances.
In this way, another objective is to serve as a model for other public administrations and private entities to join this initiative, all with the idea of obtaining, in the short term, savings in the electricity bill, as well as contributing to the strengthening of the energy security of the country.
The plan includes measures relating to the rationalization in the facilities and use of the administrative buildings of the General State Administration; the promotion of organisational formulas to be adopted by public employees, ensuring full attention to citizens, as well as training and awareness-raising measures to promote the efficient use of energy through the e-learning platform of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).
