On 19 November the Council of the European Union adopted the Conclusions on the expertise of the European public sector in EU external action.
These conclusions are an important step in defining the new path of international cooperation to the development of the European Union, as they highlight the mobilisation of public sector knowledge and place it at the heart of the European Union's external action. This action has been driven by the Red Practitioners, a platform for European development cooperation organisations from which the FIIAPP is a part of it.
Mobilising the public sector is a form of international technical cooperation that mobilises the experience of EU Member States and promotes the exchange of knowledge between peers and international institutional alliances. The EU Council has recognised that this form of cooperation is an important tool for strengthening international alliances, promoting European values and standards and achieving sustainable development.
The mobilisation of the public sector is not new, as the EU Member States and the European Commission have been promoting it for years and the time has come to extend it as the experience of the public sector enables us to work together and support the transformation of public systems.
In this area, the role of specialised organisations in Member States, such as FIIAPP in Spain, is key to promoting the experience of the public sector and ensuring that this experience is geared towards the results of sustainable development (SDGs).
