The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has published the Survey on the Equipment and Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Households in 2023, which aims to obtain data on the development and evolution of the Information Society.
To do this, we collect information about the equipment of the households in information and communication technologies (internet connection, landline and mobile phone, computer equipment) and the use and new habits of the Spanish population regarding the Internet.
In the area of e-government, the survey shows that nearly 8 out of 10 people aged 16 to 74 contacted or interacted with public administrations or services over the Internet in the last 12 months for particular reasons. The most common contacts are to make an appointment or make a reservation (62.2%) and to access the stored information (60.8%).
On the other hand, 95.4% of people aged 16 to 74 years have used the Internet in the last three months (0.9 points higher than in 2022) and 90.0% daily (2.9 more points).
Women show slightly higher percentages than men. In internet usage in the last three months of 0.3 more points, in daily use of 0.2 more points and in online shopping of 0.9 more points.
