On December 9, the Official State Gazette published the Resolution of December 2, 2020 of the State Secretariat for Territorial Policy and Civil Service appointing career officials of the Body of State Statisticians.

For admission to this Corps it is necessary to be in possession of the title of Diploma, Technical Engineer, Technical Architect or Degree or to have fulfilled the conditions to obtain it on the date of completion of the deadline for submission of requests.

Individuals who pass the access tests will be incorporated into the National Institute of Statistics staff. The main tasks to be undertaken by senior statisticians will be project management and team coordination, while qualified statisticians will perform technical and technical project implementation tasks. Public employees and employees who are part of this Corps may occupy positions in production units or in horizontal units that support statistical production.

The incorporation of this staff will allow the National Institute of Statistics to continue the production of high-quality statistics, in accordance with European and international standards, which respond efficiently to the needs of the users.

Applicants for the open access call must pass an opposition test and pass a selective course; while, on the other hand, internal promotion candidates must also pass a competition phase.

The opposition phase will consist of three exercises, all mandatory and eliminatory. The first exercise consists of answering 30 questions about the programs of Basic Theoretical Statistics, Descriptive Statistics and Statistical Process. In the second exercise, the opponents will respond to a total of 30 questions proposed by the Tribunal on the programmes of Economy, Demography and Public Law and State Organization. The third exercise will consist of responding in writing to 10 practical questions proposed by the Tribunal on the programmes of Basic Theoretical Statistics, Descriptive Statistics and Statistical Process, Economy and Demography.

Applicants who pass the opposition phase will take a selective course organised by the School of Statistics of Public Administrations, lasting one month.
