The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service, Carolina Darias, together with the rector of the National University of Distance Education (UNED), Ricardo Mairal Usón, presented on Saturday 17 October in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria the implementation, for the first time, of the decentralization of the selective processes in the General State Administration (AGE).
This event was also attended by the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy and Public Service, Francisco Spínola, the mayor of the capital Grancanaria, Augusto Hidalgo, and the delegate of the Government in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana.
The agreement signed in July with the National University of Distance Education (UNED) makes it possible for the first time to carry out simultaneous tests, in this case, for admission to the Higher Corps of Civil State Administrators, Group A1 (graduates and graduates) in 23 different places in the national territory.
The selective processes for access to Group A1 took place simultaneously in A Coruña, Gijón, Barcelona, Calatayud, Cartagena, Ceuta, La Laguna, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Logroño, Málaga, Mérida, Palencia, Palma, Pamplona, Santander, Seville, Valdepeñas, Valencia, Vitoria and Madrid (4 centers).
Until now, the first exercise of the selective process and the subsequent reading took place in Madrid, therefore, the applicants were obliged to travel, transport, maintenance and overnight stays, heavy expenses when the opponents came from the islands or from Ceuta and Melilla.
This measure, in addition to avoiding travel expenses for opponents, favours the incorporation into public employment from anywhere in the country and the attraction of talent, while approaching the General Government of the State to the citizens.
