Royal Decree 829/2023, of 20 November, restructuring the ministerial departments, as amended by Royal Decree 1230/2023 of 29 December, created the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service. The Ministry has three higher bodies: the State Secretariat for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure and the State Secretariat for Civil Service.
In addition, Royal Decree 1009/2023 of 5 December, which establishes the basic organizational structure of the ministerial departments, configures the higher and executive bodies of each department.
By Royal Decree 890/2024 of 5 September, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 62.e) and 100 of the Constitution, and on the proposal of the President of the Government, Mr. Óscar López Águeda is appointed Minister for Digital Transformation and Civil Service.
According to Royal Decree 210/2024 of 27 February, restructuring the ministerial departments, this ministry is structured in the following higher bodies:
- The State Secretariat for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, on which the General Directorate for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, the General Directorate of Data and the General Directorate for Strategic Planning in Advanced Digital Technologies and New Language Economics depend.
- The State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, on which the General Secretariat for Telecommunications and Management of Audiovisual Communication Services is responsible.
- The Secretariat of State for Civil Service, on which the General Secretariat for Digital Administration, the Directorate-General for Civil Service, with the rank of Sub-secretariat, and the Directorate-General for Public Governance are responsible. The Office for Conflicts of Interest, with the rank of Directorate-General, also falls under this Secretary of State.
