The Directorate-General for the Public Function exercises the following international competences:

• Participation in working parties and meetings in international bodies, associations and forums, in matters pertaining to the Directorate-General for Civil Service and, in particular, those relating to institutions of the European Union, or related thereto, and to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
• Preparation of reports and processing of infringement proceedings, preliminary questions and requests for information concerning the application in Spain of European Community civil service law.
• Exchange programmes for officials in the framework of bilateral agreements with states or international bodies.
• Attention to consultations and requests for information articulated by international counterparts in the field of public employment in the framework of informal cooperation.
• Organization and reception of foreign delegations interested in the Spanish public service.
