The right to strike is a fundamental right (art. 28.2 EC) for workers to temporarily suspend their work as a protest or claim for their labour rights.
During the strike period, public personnel are not obliged to perform their work duties, but they cannot be dismissed or punished for exercising their right to strike.
The Directorate General of the Civil Service monitors strikes of which the scope is State.
