One of the powers of the Directorate-General for Public Governance is the inspection and improvement of the services of the General Administration of the State and the related public bodies, the establishment of criteria that facilitate the attention of citizens through the comprehensive analysis of complaints and suggestions, the determination of general criteria for the definition of ministerial programmes of the General Inspections of Departmental Services and the monitoring of their implementation, promotion, direction and coordination of specific inspection plans to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the services, and the promotion of technical training programmes and methodologies.
The rationalisation, simplification and streamlining of work processes and management procedures are the objectives of service inspection.
