The minister highlights aid to companies to strengthen their digital protection or regulatory progress in the fight against telephone and online scams

Burgos, January 31, 2025.- The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, Óscar López, closed this Friday in Burgos the day +Cybersecurity, in which he stressed the commitment of the Government with the strengthening of business cybersecurity as a key element for the digital transformation of the country.

The minister recalled that the Government of Spain allocates one in three euros of Next Generation funds to digitization and stressed the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to promote a culture of digital security in the business sphere.

López stressed that in the face of the growing worldwide concern about digital threats, which he noted during his recent participation in the Davos Forum, the Government “updates our defenses permanently” with measures such as the plan against telephone scams that is being finalized, “the security tests of the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) on connected toys, the aid of the Digital Kit aimed at cybersecurity services for SMEs and self-employed or the recent transposition of the European Directive NIS2 in the form of a new Cybersecurity Law”.

Castilla y León, 5th CCAA with more cybersecurity inquiries

The concern for cybersecurity is growing worldwide, as a recent report of the World Economic Forum notes that more and more SMEs consider their cyber-resilience capacity inadequate: the percentage has gone from 5% in 2022 to 35% in 2025.

In Spain, INCIBE received 98,546 consultations last year, 21.78% more than the previous year, and Castilla y León was the fifth Autonomous Community that used this service the most.

Project +Cybersecurity

This Friday’s conference is part of the +Cybersecurity project, the result of a collaboration agreement signed last October between the CEOE Foundation and the Spanish Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) that aims to raise awareness, raise awareness and disseminate the importance of cybersecurity among Spanish companies through seminars and workshops of specific training throughout the national territory.

The meeting held this Friday, the second since the agreement was signed, was attended by different experts who shared practical training and prevention strategies. During the day, the challenges in cybersecurity have been discussed, and a practical workshop taught by technical specialists from INCIBE, National Police and Civil Guard has been developed in which attendees have been able to know real cases of cyberattacks and analyze response and mitigation techniques.
