- The head of this Department invites trade union centres to negotiate the Civil Service of the future
The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, Óscar López, has participated in the opening ceremony of the II Federal Congress of UGT Public Services, emphasizing the important role of the class unions in the transformative advances of the Public Administration, and has urged the workers’ representatives to continue collaborating in the achievement of the new trade union agreement for “the Public Service of the future”.
A new Civil Service model that, according to the minister’s words addressed to the 500 trade union delegates, must have two essential characteristics: that it is dedicated to the citizen, in order to provide him with the best services, and, secondly, that it strengthens the quality of employment of public servants. An agreement that also improves the working conditions of public employees, incorporating new technologies, artificial intelligence and digitalization to improve the services offered.
At this point, López has assured that the Government meets its commitments and will pay the 0.5% salary increase pending of 2024 and has remembered that since Pedro Sánchez ruled, the salaries of the officials have risen by 15%. The Ministry ' s cooperation with trade unions has also made it possible to stabilize more than 330,000 temporary posts in the Administration, to ensure that 60 per cent of the workforce is women and that the average age of public employees has been rejuvenated to the age of 50.
The minister also dedicated some emotional words to Julio Lacora, who today leaves the general secretariat of the Federation of Public Services of UGT, emphasizing that he has always worked in favor of the rights of the workers of this country, making democracy great.
