  • López has also denounced the ultras attacks that have occurred in recent hours such as the one that occurred in the act with the unions, “not a step backwards in the anti-fascist struggle”

The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, has closed this Saturday the tribute ceremony to the workers’ and trade union movement held at the Monumental Theater of Madrid. In his speech, López has claimed the role of these organizations in the defense of social rights in a context that was not always easy. “The objective of this act is to recognize the role of those who have even given their lives so that all, so that millions of people, improve our living conditions”,

The minister denounced the attempt of some ultras activists to burst the act with the unions, “we are approaching the thirties, but of the 21st century, not of the 20th century. Not a step backwards in the anti-fascist struggle. For all those who want to burst acts, I want to tell you that fortunately today, Spain has a left-wing coalition government and it will continue to have it.”

Óscar López has emphasized “that there are many struggles to conquer” but has praised some of the achievements achieved by the Government of Spain with the help of the unions such as labor reform, minimum vital income, the minimum wage or the extension and equalization of paternity and maternity leave. “Hand in hand with the unions and with a left-wing government we are going to reduce the working day. What those in the chainsaw can’t stand is the Spanish case, which breaks records of growth and maintains social justice. Fortunately, Spain has a left-wing government that will continue to advance the rights of workers and always with the help of the unions, no matter who it is,” he added.

Under the title “Conquests of the past, rights of the present”, the event was attended by the general secretaries of CCOO and UGT, Unai Sordo and Pepe Álvarez, among others. The event is part of the Spanish Government’s programme to celebrate Spain’s 50 years of freedom.
