In the State Gazette Today, 30 June, the Resolution of 24 June 2021 has been published, appointing career officials of the Optional Special Corps of Civil Navy.
It is a body of the General Administration of the State attached to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agency (Maritime Administration) whose functions include the control of maritime safety of navigation and human life at sea, transport and maritime traffic, coordination of rescue at sea and prevention and control of pollution of the marine environment, without prejudice to the competences of the Ministry of Defence and others.
They are also responsible for the inspection of the operational functions of civilian ships, their crews and goods, their equipment, materials, equipment, marine equipment, radio and marine installations, as well as for the prevention of pollution of the marine environment, as well as for all those maritime safety functions that may correspond to them, in accordance with the terms laid down in the rules in force.
In order to participate in the selective process, applicants must have a degree in Nautical and Maritime Transport, a degree in Marine Engineering, a degree in Marine Technologies, a degree in Naval Radioelectronic Engineering or equivalent degrees.
The selective process consists of four obligatory and eliminatory exercises, the first exercise consists of a questionnaire of written questions, type of test. The second exercise is based on knowledge of the English language with written test and oral test.
The third exercise consists of the oral development of three subjects and the fourth exercise consists of the written resolution of a practical case.
Applicants who pass the tests of the opposition phases must pass a selective course based on a theoretical training period to acquire knowledge of the future professional performance. In addition, they will carry out a traineeship consisting of generic and varied tasks that have as their primary purpose the acquisition of practical knowledge for the exercise of the functions of the Optional Special Corps of Civil Navy.
